The Data
The following table shows 25% of the number of Laptops sold and one-fourth (¼) of the number of Tablets sold by four different stores, namely P, Q, R and S, along with the ratio of the number of Laptops to Headphones sold. Based on the data, answer the questions that follow.
- The total number of Laptops, Tablets and Headphones sold by store P is 1320.
- The ratio of the number of Laptops to Headphones sold by Q is 5 : 4.
- For store R, the number of Laptops sold is three times the number of Headphones sold.
- Some values are missing in the table that you are expected to compute, if needed.

Answer Key & Solution Approach
Step 0 — Decode the table (recover the real figures)
Convert each disguised entry into the real number sold: Laptops = (25% column) × 4, Tablets = (¼ column) × 4, and Headphones from the Laptops : Headphones ratio.
- P: Laptops = 150×4 = 600; ratio 3:2 → Headphones = 600×2/3 = 400; total 1320 → Tablets = 1320−600−400 = 320.
- Q: Laptops = 200×4 = 800; Tablets = 90×4 = 360; ratio 5:4 → Headphones = 800×4/5 = 640.
- R: Tablets = 140×4 = 560; Laptops = 3 × Headphones (Note 3) — pinned in Q3.
- S: Laptops = 220×4 = 880; Tablets = 120×4 = 480; ratio 8:5 → Headphones = 880×5/8 = 550.
Store Q: Tablets + Headphones = 360 + 640 = 1000; Laptops = 800. Percentage more = (1000 − 800) ÷ 800 × 100 = 25%.
Headphones: P = 400, S = 550. Ratio = 400 : 550 = 8 : 11.
Average of Tablets & Headphones for R = 400 → their sum = 800 → Headphones = 800 − 560 = 240. By Note 3, Laptops = 3×240 = 720. Required average of Laptops & Tablets = (720 + 560) ÷ 2 = 640.
Store P: average of Headphones & Laptops = (400 + 600) ÷ 2 = 500. Power Banks = 120% × 500 = 600. Difference from Tablets (320) = 600 − 320 = 280.
Store P: Laptops + Tablets = 600 + 320 = 920. Tablets of S = 480. Difference = 920 − 480 = 440.
